Effat Marashi, Rafsanjani’s wife, writes that had her husband any influence on the Judiciary, her children Faezeh and Mehdi would not be imprisoned now; Revolutionary Guards Commander Mohammad-Ali Aziz Jafari: “We are exporting the experiences of the Basij to other countries and we hope we can export the religion of Islam into other countries”; Donya-ye Eqtesad reports on the strengthening of the Rial against the Dollar in the market, which is explained as “optimism of the dealers concerning the international [nuclear] negotiations.”

 

Politics

  • Effat Marashi, Rafsanjani’s wife, answering Kayhan’s attacks against the Rafsanjani family, writes that had her husband any influence on the Judiciary, her children Faezeh and Mehdi would not be imprisoned now.
  • Hossein Marashi, brother of Rafsanjani’s wife, says his earlier statements indicating interest in running for president was “a joke.”

  • Revolutionary Guards Commander Mohammad-Ali Aziz Jafari: “We are exporting the experiences of the Basij to other countries and we hope we can export the religion of Islam into other countries.”
  • An Intelligence Ministry report discussing “American attempts at unifying the opposition abroad” concludes that the opposition will remain scattered and disunited.
  • Jomhouri-ye Eslami slams “those Arab states which instead of supporting Gaza… arm the civil war in Syria…”
  • Kayhan’s editorial predicts that “Arab countries will soon raise their accusations and wrath against the resistance in Gaza.”

 

Economy

  • Donya-ye Eqtesad discusses the latest Central Bank report on the Iranian economy:
    • “Economic growth: 3.4%,… oil production: 3.6 million barrels per day… oil exports: 2.1 million barrels per day marking a 9% increase in oil exports… 63% decrease in utilization of the industrial sector… decreased public sector debt to the Central Bank, but increased debt in the public sector companies’ debt to the Central Bank…”
  • Donya-ye Eqtesad also reports on the strengthening of the Rial against the Dollar in the market, which is explained as “optimism of the dealers concerning the international [nuclear] negotiations.”
    • Tehran-e Emrooz analyst Navid Namayandeh: “Decline of the Dollar may not necessarily lead to declining prices… Inflation has other causes than the price of foreign currency.”
  • Ahmadinejad meeting a group of parliamentarians promises to “solve all the economic problems of the country until the [June 2013 presidential] election.”
  • Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi says Iran will reach natural gas self sufficiency already this winter because of the developments in the South Pars gas field.
  • Oil Ministry Planning Director Mohsen Khojasteh says the Central Bank is about to provide a $10 billion credit for development of the oil sector.
